Voies vers la prospérité: Canada

In parallel with the ACS-Metropolis conference, which will be held at the Ottawa Convention Center from March 14 to March 16th 2013, the Association for Canadian Studies and the Metropolis Project in collaboration with Pathways to Prosperity, will hold a research forum on francophone immigration within francophone minority communities on March 13th 2013. The main objective of this workshop is to further the dialogue on issues relating to the immigration of francophones within francophone minority communities (FMCs).

Main topic: Since 2008, the Canadian government has been considerably reforming the immigration system, mainly with the intent of trying to identify skilled immigrant workers able to satisfy Canada’s job market demands. During the event, we will consider these reforms through three different angles: the selection and recruitment strategies of francophone immigrants, issues surrounding the job market and their implication for employers, the involvement of new partners and organizations in the immigration process.

En parallèle à la conférence AEC- Métropolis, qui se déroulera du 14 au 16 mars 2013 au centre de congrès d’Ottawa, l’association d’études canadiennes et le projet Métropolis en collaboration avec l’initiative Voies vers la prospérité tiendra une activité de recherche sur l’immigration francophone au sein des CFSM le 13 mars, 2013. L’objectif principal est de poursuivre l’initiative des journées pré-conférence sur l’immigration francophone au sein des CFSM.

Thème de la journée : Depuis 2008, le gouvernement canadien introduit des réformes considérables au système d’immigration, misant plus sur l’identification de travailleurs étrangers qualifiés pouvant répondre aux besoins du marché de l?emploi. Lors de cette journée, trois dimensions seront privilégiées, soit les stratégies de sélection et de recrutement des immigrants économiques francophones, la question de l’emploi et l’implication des employeurs, l’engagement de nouveaux acteurs et intervenants.
