AAISA’s 8th Biennial Settlement Conference – Engaging Minds, Creating Sustainability: The Future of Settlement

Our member agencies provide services to assist newcomers in becoming fully integrated members of Alberta society. Examples of services include orientation, interpretation, counseling, employment services, educational assistance, and programs for immigrant youth. AAISA’s mission is to facilitate collaboration and leadership within the settlement serving sector. Through our work we envision an inclusive welcoming and engaged society.
AAISA’s Biennial Settlement Conference brings together a variety of settlement and integration stakeholders such as settlement and career practitioners, counsellors, leaders, supervisors, and management staff from diverse organizations across Alberta and the Western Region. The conference facilitates the professionalization of the sector through thematic plenary and concurrent sessions and recognizes settlement practitioners for the professional achievements.
Responding to an evolving environment, the 8th Biennial Settlement Conference will explore the theme of Engaging Minds, Creating Sustainability-The Future of Settlement. The conference features three plenary sessions on “Policy and Shifting Paradigms: Impacts and Responses”, “The Future of Labour Market Integration: Employer engagement, core competencies, and bridging programs in Alberta”, and “Settlement and Innovation: Practices and Partners” which will be complemented by concurrent sessions where the future of settlement is explored through panel and/or facilitated discussions and interactive learning sessions around Community Services, Core Settlement Services, Employment and Career Planning, Knowledge Management and Technology, and Management and Leadership.
