Online Course – Refugee Mental Health: Focus on Syrian Refugees

The Refugee Mental Health Project offers accredited, self-directed, evidence-informed online courses. The courses are intended to enhance service providers’ knowledge and skills to support refugee mental health across Canada.

There are two online courses available; a stream each for :

  • Health care professionals
  • Settlement and social service providers

 

Refugee Mental Health: Focus on Syrian Refugees

Since November 2015, 40,000 Syrian refugees have resettled in 308 communities across Canada. Mental health has been identified as a significant issue among Syrian refugees. This course aims to address the unique needs of refugee populations with a specific focus on Syrian refugees.

This course offering builds on the Refugee Mental Health course which has trained over 4,700 service providers.

Components of the course include: online modules, learning activities, video clips, a discussion forum, and access to a panel of subject-matter experts.

 

Accreditation

Participants are eligible for a Letter of Completion.

The course is accredited by the Office of Continuing Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. In addition, the course has been approved for the College of Family Physicians of Canada Mainpro+ credits and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Section 1 credits.
